Rituel

Au début de l’hiver, à la limite du Morvan, Louis retrouve deux amis dans sa maison d’enfance. Décidés à préserver la tradition familiale, ils se rassemblent comme chaque année pour tuer le cochon. En se détachant progressivement des usages locaux, ils ont élaboré leurs propres savoir faire. De l’abattage à la transformation, le rituel s’est étendu sur trois jours. Une pluie sombre couvre alors les paysages du Morvan. Ce travail photographique ne dépeint pas directement ces 72 heures, mais explore l’environnement symbolique de ce rituel.

Winter, centre of France. Louis met with his friends in the house he grew up. Every year, to maintain family tradition, they kill a pig. Overtime, they developped their own skills, breaking up with the old rules. It took 3 days to kill and process the pig according to the ritual. During this time, a dark storm was hanging above their heads. Through this work, i focus on exploring the symbolic environment of the ritual instead of the killing itself.
